Amazon.com Product Description
Though small in size, the unlocked, 3G-enabled Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro mobile phone (model SK17a) comes packed full of innovative features. Powered by the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS, you'll get access to a wealth of Google mobile services as well as hundreds of thousands of apps from the Android Market.
The 3.0-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine multi-touch display delivers exceptional visual brilliance and a crystal clear image thanks to its LED backlighting. It's also outfitted with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard that includes fast Type & Send functionality, which eliminates the need to open a dedicated application for each type of message. Additionally, the Smart Keyboard triggers predictive messaging actions automatically when you slide out the keyboard.
The 5.0-megapixel camera has a f/2.6 lens, enabling you to capture high quality, bright still photos and HD videos even in low light. The auto-focus camera includes stabilization for still and video capture, smile detection, geotagging, an LED flash, and red-eye reduction features. It also captures HD 720p video. And you can enjoy on-the-go video chats via the front-facing VGA camera.
Get direct access to your 16 most used apps by dragging icons from your desktop into the corners of the homescreen. Synchronize your e-mail, calendar and contacts thanks to Exchange ActiveSync. Plus, with the pre-loaded OfficeSuite, you can view documents sent as e-mail attachments.
Other features include a single-core 1 GHz processor, Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, GPS for navigation (using built-in Google Maps) and location services, 320 MB user accessible internal memory, microSD expansion (up to 32 GB), access to both personal and corporate e-mail, DLNA wireless media streaming, and up to 5.5 hours of talk time.
Smart Keyboard
Your keyboard knows what to do before you know what to type. When you slide it out, the Xperia Mini Pro's Smart Keyboard function predicts what you want to do. Reading an e-mail? "Reply, Reply all or Forward?" automatically pops up. Online? The address and search field is activated.
Get Social
A highly social mobile phone, the Xperia Mini Pro includes Sony Ericsson Timescape, which lets all your communication with a person come together in one place. Facebook posts, calls, text messages are all gathered, so you don't have to open loads of different apps to see what's going on.
And with Facebook inside Xperia (developed in close cooperation with Facebook), you can make your entertainment truly social. Your Facebook albums pop up in your phone's gallery, and you can comment directly on the pictures. Share recommendations and likes from the music player. Don't miss any of your friends' birthdays or other exciting Facebook events--they're all automatically visible in your calendar. You only need to sign in once to Facebook during start-up of your Xperia Mini Pro.

Android Gingerbread Operating System
The Xperia Mini Pro runs the Android 2.3 operating system (dubbed Gingerbread)--the fastest version of Android available for smartphones yet. It features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation. Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming e-mail and then switch back to the game without losing your place. And like the previous version of Android ("Froyo"), Gingerbread provides support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web. A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions. The Xperia Mini Pro also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you'll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets, and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day. | Google Integration

All I got to say is that I'm amazed with the amount of feature and build quality that this phone has; which has got me jealous and I just order one.I'm just gonna touch on a few key features. Specs can be founded online. 3" HVGA capacitive touchscreen - highly responsive and clear pictures showing vivid colors. Granted the screen is small but everything comes out in great detail. Best of all, the screen is glass. That's right; it's not plastic but the 3" screen is glass. Sliding Keyboard - slide open and closed smoothly and firmly. No flimsy construction here. The keys are space out nicely for your thumbs to type away. Battery life - This point is kinda useless since everyone has different usage. My friend who makes a lot of calls and text a lot of people with very light use of the internet manage to get a little over a day. I'm guessing if... It's my first Android smart phone, so I'm having to learn both the new handset and a new OS, after having used E-Series Nokia phones for many years. One of the things that drew me to this model was its hardware keyboard (in addition to the on-screen ones it offers in both portrait and landscape modes). With the Nokia E-Series Symbian models being discontinued, there aren't a great number of quality, high performing smartphone choices with hardware keyboards. But after doing a lot of research, I settled on this one, and thus far am glad I did. I'm a tall guy with large hands and long fingers, but the keyboard on the MiniPro works fine for me. The keys have a firm click-type (non-audible) touch and are nicely spaced and tactile. The slide out mechanism as others have noted is solid and firm, no jiggering or bending when the keyboard is... It is easy to use and small enough to fit nicely in one hand, an issue for me as i found most phones to be too big and clunky. i also like to have the option of a full keyboard as touch screen texting can be very annoying, but both work really well on this phone. the only very minor drawback is that the battery drains quickly and it has to be charged every day, but that is generally how all smart phones are, i.e. mini computers so they use more power. |
